Some providers referenced in Merit Reports pay Merit a referral fee if you open or fund a product through a link in your report. Where that relationship exists, it is labelled on the recommendation itself, not only here.

As of August 1, 2026, no provider in any Merit Report pays us. Every recommendation we have made so far has earned Merit nothing. If that changes, the label appears on the recommendation before you act on it.

What compensation does not do

It does not determine who appears in your report or the order they appear in. Sequence is built from your file and each provider's published criteria.

What Merit is not

Merit is not a lender and does not issue credit. Merit Reports are educational guidance, not a credit decision.
